Doublet x ASICS Collab: Sneaker Inspired by a Shoe Box

Doublet and ASICS have come together for their first collaboration, creating the unisex sneaker, GEL-KAYANO 20, set for release on November 16, 2024.

The collaborative sneaker takes its inspiration from a “shoe box” motif. The sand-colored upper recalls the appearance of an ASICS shoe box, featuring wavy, corrugated textures that mimic the layers of cardboard. Additionally, size and color information stickers, which are typically found on packaging, are integrated into the shoe’s details, adding an authentic boxed look.

The sneaker material is crafted to change color over time, making the shoe’s appearance shift with each wear. Two laces are included: one in sand to match the upper and another in blue, symbolizing the vinyl tape often used to secure boxes. The shoebox itself is designed to replicate the shoe’s cardboard aesthetic, adding to the overall theme.
